With a soft, subtle tone, the Cheyne porcelain tiles really capture the beauty of natural stone while providing a super low maintenance foundation for a busy kitchen.

We are extremely excited to share with you some images of the Cheyne Porcelain flooring tile sent over from our client, which was installed in their beautiful kitchen.

The project, located in SE London, was undertaken by Humphrey Munson and comprised a kitchen and media cabinetry in the adjoining sitting room in a second floor apartment overlooking Peckham Rye. As part of the design process at HM, the Creative Director, Louisa Eggleston, recommended the Cheyne natural effect porcelain alongside the paint colours Half Windsor and Black Thorn which you can see glimpses of in these images.

In terms of the Cheyne’s colouring, it works beautifully with the island and perimeter, all working cohesively, to bring out the warmth in the tile. The kitchen gets flooded with natural light thanks to three large windows, so it was important to choose a tile that didn’t look washed out on a sunny day.

A great limestone alternative, the Cheyne is available in that large flagstone format you so often see with natural stone flooring. With its authentic, eclectic markings, it’s really difficult to tell it apart from the real thing. Each tile, highly varied in pattern, which works really well in this space.

Along with its markings, it also has a textured finish to the surface of the tile, making it ideal for those busy kitchens and hallways or hard working utility and boot rooms.

Porcelain: Given that it’s a porcelain tile, it goes without saying that it requires much lower maintenance in comparison to a natural limestone, which requires sealing. These hardwearing porcelain tiles really provide you with the comfort that you may seek if limestone feels a little too much upkeep.

Finish: It has a matt finish, therefore a low sheen with some texture and graining.

Use: Great for domestic, light use. Additionally, for commercial, interior floors and even wall tiling.

Size: As mentioned above, it’s available in a 60.4cm x 90.6cm flagstone style format.

Thickness: It’s only 1.0cm, which is ideal if you don’t have the depth that may be required for a slightly chunkier limestone.

Price: It’s priced at £70.00 per SQM + VAT and delivery. Send us an email with your details and SQM required and we can send you a formal quotation.

Samples: We charge £5.00 per sample which is deductible from any order placed with HM Flooring library. You may request samples through the website using or over the phone.
