Emilia d’Erlanger and Anna Sloan set up interior design company d’Erlanger and Sloan back in 2008 after discovering a shared love of understated, inspirational interiors while studying at Edinburgh university.

Sitting in their Edinburgh flat inspired by the stunning historic architecture surrounding them, Emilia and Anna dreamt of creating beautiful interiors and still love nothing more than drawing inspiration from their surroundings, rummaging through antique shops and creating the beautiful out of the unexpected.

After completing their degrees, Anna went on to study at the prestigious Inchbald School of Design in London, while Emilia took a position at the acclaimed Veere Grenney Associates. Anna soon followed and it is here that they gained invaluable experience working on many major interior design and decoration projects both in the UK and abroad.

Known for their pared back classic design with a contemporary twist, we love how they layer antique and vintage pieces into their projects which give these homes soul and reflect the personalities of those living there.

We love this de Gournay wallpaper in the bathroom of the Chelsea town house project. The London showroom of de Gournay at 112 Church Street in Chelsea is well worth a visit to see these exquisite hand-painted wallpapers up close – the internet is an amazing thing but nothing can beat seeing something in real life can it?

This lovely town house in Notting Hill is such a classic example of d’Erlanger and Sloan’s super cool classic English style – layered textures, a mix of antique and vintage one-offs with modern pieces, and of course beautiful styling. It’s so hard to get this look spot on but Emilia and Anna have nailed it.
