Calcot Manor, Gloucestershire | The perfect weekend getaway

Since this visit to Lorford Antiques near Tetbury, Gloucestershire last year, I’ve been meaning to write about Calcot Manor and what a wonderful weekend escape it would make. Dating back to the 14th century, Calcot is one of those places you could go back to time after time and never get bored.

Calcot and Calcot Spa is located in Gloucestershire amidst 220 acres of classic Cotswold countryside. The luxury hotel has 35 bedrooms located in the main house and overlooking the courtyard and gardens and include suites, two-floor duplexes and double rooms.

Rooms are beautifully appointed with layered textures and understated elegance. With incredible views across the lovely rolling meadows and countryside, staying at Calcot is a proper weekend escape. They really welcome children of all ages and want you to bring them with you so the whole family can enjoy a weekend getaway.

Family rooms are large and many of them have separate bedrooms for children – all safely within your suite. They also offer baby-listening services or baby-sitters can be arranged.

The Conservatory restaurant in the main house is flooded with natural daylight from big windows with breathtaking views of the surrounding grounds and the conservatory ceiling which means you can always be making the most of the sunshine.

The Gumstool Inn is Calcot’s very own village-style pub adjacent to the main house, complete with open fire, fireside grill, stone floors and a proper British pub food menu. The food is excellent – simple, freshly prepared and delicious.

For a super relaxing break, you’ll definitely want to recharge and recuperate in their luxurious spa which includes a swimming pool, treatment rooms, a gym, lounge and an outdoor hot tub that’s surrounded by lavender and overlooks an open wood fire.

Complete with tennis courts, an outdoor pool, a dedicated kids playground, creche, woodland gymnasium, mini football pitch, a disc golf course, free bikes to hire and horse riding available, Calcot offers everything you’ll need for a restful weekend escape either as a couple, or with family and friends.
