Baron’s Cove | Sag Habor, The Hamptons

Published:

After a two-year renovation, Baron’s Cove is a far cry from its former motel identity and with Cape Resorts hotelier Curtis Bashaw and his sister, decorator Colleen Bashaw, overseeing the project it’s little wonder that the final result is nothing short of perfection.

The new resort maintains the name and footprint of the original structure, which was the first resort development in Sag Harbor, while also expanding to include a brand new pool area, chic guest rooms, a restaurant and bar serving the freshest food and drinks, and beautiful landscaping.

Baron’s Cove embraces the history of the original 1960’s hotel, which boasted prominent guests including John and Elaine Steinbeck, Paul Newman, Art Garfunkel, and Richard Kind. Local leaders, out of town guests, and regional artists—Jackson Pollock, Willem and Elaine de Kooning, Truman Capote, George Plimpton, and Kurt Vonnegut, to name just a few—regularly gathered in the restaurant and hotel.

Today, they offer that same spirit of creativity and community while also offering up-to-date amenities expected from a modern resort.

Situated both on the harbor and a just short walk from Main Street, Baron’s Cove has the unique ability to be a quiet, intimate, and accessible place to stay anytime of year.  Steps away from the marina, those irreplaceable waterfront sunsets are still there but its new rooms, lobby, restaurant, pool and amenities are now destinations in themselves.

The Hotel features sixty-seven charming village & harbor facing rooms and suites with plush bedding. They even have dog-friendly rooms for guests who travel with their pets. Family friendly amenities include the harbor side heated saltwater pool, tennis court, fitness studio, spa services, complimentary beach service with transportation.

The classic, All-American restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner featuring fresh and local dishes by chef Matty Boudreau. Watch the sunset over Sag Harbor Cove from the second floor dining room and outdoor terrace – just perfection.

The Village of Sag Harbor is the jewel of the world-renowned Hamptons. Once a thriving port, it is now known for its waterfront resort qualities, meandering tree-lined streets, 18th and 19th century architecture and casually sophisticated way of life.

Located on the picturesque east end of Long Island about 100 miles from Manhattan, Sag Harbor provides convenient access to virtually everything in the Hamptons that visitors from all over will enjoy year round.

On foot, stroll up and down Main Street to discover singular boutiques, galleries, and local museums, or dine at the most widely-acclaimed restaurants in the Hamptons. By boat, explore the stunning local waterways, coves, and marinas. Or drive just minutes to the freshest local farm stands, a surprisingly deep array of wineries, and some of the finest ocean beaches on the East Coast.

With easy access to the Hamptons, Shelter Island, and the North Fork wine country, Sag Harbor is the perfect gateway to this extraordinary region of New York.
