Banquette Seating Published: 27-06-2020 Banquette seating can be specified in projects of all shapes and sizes and provides an opportunity for informal, comfortable dining in the kitchen when a larger dining table may not be available in the space, or if there’s a formal dining room nearby. Many of our projects feature banquette seating as part of the island or (in one case) in a bay window nearby, to illustrate how banquettes have been incorporated into a selection of projects we’ve put together a selection below…C R O U C H E N D P R O J E C TJust off the island and storage run in the Crouch End project is bespoke banquette seating designed into an existing bay window with a Langham table (a bespoke extendable table designed and made by Humphrey Munson). The kitchen is designed for both entertaining and family life and so needed to be a comfortable and convenient, leaving an open plan space designed for cooking, dining and relaxing.Finished in Portobello oak to match the accent wood of the main kitchen, the Langham table’s pedestal below has a painted finish to blend seamlessly with the banquette seating in the window behind. The Havisham dining chairs mimic the larger counter stools which are finished in Portobello oak with the same off-white/grey leather ensuring a clean, contemporary style to this seating area. Above the banquette seating is a large Original BTC pendant light which adds light and atmosphere to this part of the kitchen. The main dining room is just off the kitchen but the family still needed and informal place for meals.Clever zoning of the space ensures that the cook is able to finish dinner on the working side of the kitchen and serve drinks to guests from an integrated Fisher & Paykel cool drawer, while guests relax on the sharing / dining side at the banquette. Occupied by a busy family on a day-to-day basis the client’s specified that they desired an informal place to eat and relax within the kitchen and this was realised in the form of a banquette. This comfortable spot sits at the end of the island and has a Langham dining table finished in Berkeley oak with Havisham dining chairs. The perfect mix of old meets new, the banquette is opposite an exposed brick wall that helps to create the ideal balance of classic meets contemporary in this kitchen – with the added bonus of a TV mounted on the wall for young ones to wind down to whilst dinner is being prepared at the island behind. This contrast creates a really cool, contemporary look that’s warmed by the polished brass Marton handles and Ebury porcelain flooring (by HM Flooring Library). The banquette is situated at the end of the island close to the garden which makes for a really lovely place to sit in the warmer months with the doors wide open. Just along from the banquette is an integrated cool drawer – perfect for serving guests at the nearby banquette without disturbing the cook on the far side of the kitchen. The banquette has a Greenwich black oak Langham table and is surrounded by Havisham dining chairs – both the banquette and chairs are finished in the Shelly Pearl by Crest Leather to maintain continuity and balance in this space.
